The Robin: Fundraising Extra - 3 February 2019

Hello! Welcome to this special 'Extra' edition of The Robin in which we wanted to give everyone an update from our last FoBS meeting including some of the decisions we've made about what the money you've raised will be spent on, what we're fundraising for now and how you can get involved.

First though, a quick message from the Ball Committee...

Burhill Brits 2019 - Saturday 23 March

FoBS Fundraising Update

We are delighted to be able to announce that through your generosity and support of all FoBS events and fundraising activities, we are able to contribute to a number of projects and purchases for our school. We listened to what you suggested and our decisions were driven by the responses we received from parents/carers.

  • Library Development - We have pledged £10K to this project which without giving too much away will include a fantastic 'tree' for the centre of the Library, some new listening posts and also some books. We are hoping the new Library will open after Easter.

  • Outside Toilets/Changing Rooms - We have pledged a substantial donation to this but are awaiting exact costs. A meeting will be held soon with Surrey County Council, who are managing the project, and Planning Permission will be sought if necessary. Hopefully work will begin in either July or September this year.

  • New PA system for School Hall - This year’s Burhill Ball will raise funds for this project with the estimated costs being £10K. We all agreed that a night celebrating the Best of British musical talent was a very appropriate fundraiser for this equipment which will take our nativities, plays and performances to a whole new level!

  • Targeted Support Resources - We have donated £5K to purchase software, books and other resources to be used to provide targeted support to all children.

  • Outdoor Learning Equipment - £1K will be spent on upgrading the outdoor learning equipment at the school, including repainting the hopscotch grid in the playground.

  • History Books - £1K will be spent purchasing more class sets of history books.

  • Upgrade to Chickens Accommodation - Our chickens need a new roof! Mr. Hill is obtaining quotes to build a new roof for the chicken coop and FoBS has agreed to fund this.

  • Year 6 Leavers' Event - FoBS will donate £600 to this.

VOTE NOW - Help us decide what else to buy!

We recently asked you to suggest things that could be purchased by FoBS. The meeting discussed the most popular suggestions that haven't already been allocated funding and made a shortlist which we're now handing over to you to vote on in our Doodle Poll.

Summer Fair - Saturday 22 June

Help! We have no volunteers to run the Summer Fair this year. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved. The 2018 team have put together a great handover so there’s lots of information available to help you along the way. It’s a fantastic way to get to know other parents, plus it's a brilliant day for the children and a super fundraiser for our school. For more info or to volunteer please reply to this email or why not come along to the next FoBS meeting - date below. Thank you!

Old Pound Coins

If you happen to have the odd old pound coin lying around at home and you know you'll never get round to taking it to an old fashioned bank, you know, the ones on the High Street with a counter and real people in it (!), then why not donate to them to FoBS - just drop them in to us via the school office - every little helps!

Dates for the diary:-

'Time For A Cuppa' FoBS Coffee Morning in aid of Dementia UK - Friday 1st March, 9-10am at school.

Back by popular demand... Strictly Beauty & Bling Evening - Thursday 4th April - more news coming soon!

Next FoBS Meeting - 7pm, Thursday 28th February in the Blue Hall - All welcome!
