The Robin - 15 September 2019

Dear All,

Here we are with our second weekly update of the year. The Autumn Term is a really busy one for FoBS so there's plenty to tell you about!

Call for Class Reps

As ever at this time of year, we are looking for Class Reps for each class in the school. Class Reps do many really useful things for FoBS such as coordinating volunteers to help out on stalls at our events, organising collections for teacher Christmas and/or end-of-year gifts and disseminating information to their class parents and carers. You don't need to do it on your own - many of our classes have several reps who share the various duties between them. It's a great way of getting involved with FoBS as well as getting to know the other parents in your class. If you have any questions about being a Class Rep or if you'd like to be a rep for your class please email Emma Cairns, our Class Rep Co-ordinator, at reps@friendsofburhillschool.co.uk.

Message from the Fireworks Committee

The nights are getting darker and a chill is in the air - so the time is fast approaching for our annual Fireworks Display. The evening will be a fabulous family event packed full of games, crafts, music and more…

Save the Date - Friday 8th November

Gates will open at 5pm

Burhill Primary School, entrance via New Berry Lane, KT12 4HQ

If you know of any local business – big or small – that would like to sponsor the event this year please email FoBS:hello@friendsofburhillschool.co.uk

Watch out for more details and tickets COMING SOON!

Autumn Quiz Night

We are still looking for a team to "mastermind" this event scheduled for 18 October. Time is running out so if you've been thinking it over this week, please do consider signing up. We may be forced to cancel if we can't rustle up an event team very soon.

Christmas Fair Committee

Some good news! We have found a lovely volunteer to head up our Christmas Fair committee. We also have someone to run the Elfridges room and our ever-popular Grotto, but we still need more help. If you love Christmas and would like to join in with the organisation of the Fair then please do let us know. It's so much fun for all the children and it's a lovely feeling to be part of creating such an important event for all our Burhill families to enjoy.

Burhill Tea Towel Project

Someone is still needed to coordinate the Tea Towel project for this Christmas. This would suit someone who is interested in helping the school but can't necessarily be around much during the day as the majority of the work can be done from home. The self-portraits that the children produce for their yearly tea towels are always so sweet, and a great memento for friends and family.

FoBS Committee Vacancies

Our AGM is due to take place on 3rd October and we are looking for Vice Chairs and a Co-Treasurer. No previous experience is necessary! If you would like further information on any of the committee roles please just shout - we'd be delighted to answer any questions.

Next FoBS Meeting

Our first meeting of the year will take place this Friday morning from 9am at the Children's Centre. We hope to see lots of you there.

FoBS Volunteers WhatsApp Group

If you think you might be able to spare a bit of time occasionally, even if it's only half an hour, why not join our Volunteers WhatsApp group? Whenever we need people to lend a hand, be it helping to supply refreshments at a meeting or delivering leaflets to advertise our events, we post to the group and if you're available, you just let us know. No pressure! To join the group, simply reply to this email and include your name, child's class and your phone number.

Thanks, and have a brilliant week!
